High Flyer Programme
If students have been identified as a High Flyer/Gifted and Talented student by the College, or their previous school, they will be encouraged to join our High Flyer Programme.
Students who wish to successfully apply for Medicine/Dentistry/Veterinary courses, and to Oxbridge, receive bespoke weekly support sessions which are run by internal and external specialist staff.
The programme is designed to suit students' individual needs, enabling them to develop higher level skills that top universities are looking for. Students will take part in weekly academic and tutorial sessions and will be offered a range of additional activities and initiatives designed to maximise their chances of gaining a place on their university course of choice. In addition to the many university application initiatives (see here), High Flyer initiatives include:
- Visits to the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge (see more below)
- Talks by leading academics from Russell Group universities
- Residential courses with Villiers Park Cambridge Educational Trust, London School of Economics, the Sutton Trust and Queen Mary University
- Internships with the Social Mobility Foundation
- University-led programmes, for example LSE Choice Masterclasses, K+ King's College Mentoring, UCL Uni-Link, SAMDA (Medicine/Dentistry mentoring).
Dr Castell, from University of Oxford, delivering an academic session on English Literature.
High Flyer students will be encouraged to attend educational trips to both Oxford and Cambridge, where they will take part in summer schools, lectures and residential visits in their preferred subject choice.
Students will also get to meet highly acclaimed academics and current undergraduates and find out more about the admissions process. In addition, they will be part of academic masterclasses and will receive additional support for the Oxford and Cambridge admissions tests.
We currently have partner links with St Peter's College (University of Oxford) and Gonville & Caius College (University Of Cambridge).

Medicine/Dentistry/Vetinary Sciences Programme
The Higher Education Department at Sir George Monoux Sixth Form College works very closely with Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Students will benefit from interaction with experienced undergraduate medicine students, who run specific seminars and offer individual support. Students will also be linked with staff at Bart's Hospital, who give advice and run interview practice sessions. All students will receive additional support for the Medicine Admission Tests (UKCAT and BMAT).
