The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology has been designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree-level study and employment within the media sector. There is no exam so your are assessed entirely on practical coursework. This provides you with a substantial portfolio and show reel evidence (a requirement for most creative jobs, university courses and apprenticeships). Compared to exam based courses it more accurately reflects the demands and challenges of working in the creative industries. If you have an interest in media or you want to explore, develop and test your creativity then this is the ideal course for you.
The course has been intentionally designed to develop creative and technical skills across the disciplines of both moving image (e.g. video / audio production) and digital design (e.g. graphic design). Due to developments in technology employers are increasingly looking to appoint ‘Mixed Media Specialists’ and learners who study this course will therefore become adept across a range of hardware and software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects etc.).
How is this course assessed?
All of the assessment is based on the completion of coursework, which comprises of research and planning evidence, practical outcomes and a reflective evaluation. You will achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Year 1 and the full Extended Diploma in Year 2.
