The Formal Dissolution Proposal

In accordance with the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 and associated regulations, the Corporation is required to publish the proposal to dissolve the existing Sixth Form College Corporation and transfer its property, rights and liabilities to the academy trust, as part of the consultation process.

This notice is given by the Corporation of Sir George Monoux College, 190 Chingford Road, London, E17 5AA in accordance with the Further Education Corporation (Publication of Proposals) (England) Regulations 2012, S1 2012 No.1157. The Corporation proposes for the dissolution of Sir George Monoux College and the subsequent transfer of the property, rights and liabilities to The Drapers’ Multi-Academy Trust.

Sir George Monoux College provides sixth form education for 16-19 year old students across a wide curriculum comprising A level and Level 3 Applied General courses, T Levels, GCSE resit maths and English courses and some Level 2 programmes. The college has provision for 14 to 16 year olds who have recently moved to the UK. The current number of students is 1927, all of whom are full time.

Subject to the outcomes of consultation and due diligence, the date proposed for the dissolution of Sir George Monoux College as a designated Sixth Form College and the transfer of the property, rights and liabilities to The Drapers' Multi-Academy Trust is 1 March 2027. All students currently attending the college will continue their education in the new 16-19 academy. There are no plans to alter the education provision currently provided by Sir George Monoux College.

In accordance with the provisions of the Act, consultation on these proposals will run from 12th June to 20th August 2026. All responses and representations must be made by 20th August 2026. A summary of the consultation and its outcome will be published within one month beginning on the date after the end of the consultation period. The summary will be available on the college’s website.
