The pathways correspond to key industries and are tailor made to enrich your college
experience by strengthening your understanding of your chosen career path.

You can choose to combine subjects from different pathways and your choice of pathway depends entirely on your future ambition.

This Pathway is ideal for students interested in pursuing careers in the creative industry.

The courses will help develop and learn new skills to enrich your understanding of the arts both in theory and practically.

DIGITAL

 

The Digital Pathway is perfect for students interested in computing and digital communications.

This pathway will help you gain the key skills to make the most of the opportunities that the Tech industry has to offer.

ENTERPRISE & MANAGEMENT

 

The Enterprise & Management pathway is for students interested in business, enterprise and management across a wide range of sectors.

The courses in this pathway cover a range of topics to prepare you for either employment in the industry or higher education.

SOCIETY & CULTURE

 

The Society and Culture pathway is for students who want to study aspects of human society and culture.

Through the subjects on this pathway, students will gain more understanding of how text, language, expression and even location play a significant role in understanding society as a whole.

SCIENCE & HEALTH

 

The Science & Health pathway is for students with scientific minds who are interested in finding out how science helps improve our world.

Becoming part of this pathway can help you pursue a career in science or the health and care services.

The Legal & Finance pathway is ideal for students seeking to understand the legal system and economic structures of the UK.

We encourage Academy students to deepen their study programme by taking an extra A Level, Further Maths or an extended project.

TALENT LAB

 

Talent Lab is our way to provide a structure to help you: work hard, receive support, build skills, and enjoy the Monoux experience.

You will have either one or two Talent Lab sessions on your weekly timetable. All Talent Lab sessions are listed on the Monoux App. So you can decide what to take part in ahead of time. You build up credits and convert them to great prizes over the course of the year.

Student Ambassadors represent the Monoux at public events, such as: Open Days, School visits, VIP events Students who become Ambassadors gain many transferable skills such as: organisation, leadership, collaboration and communication

Anyone can become an Ambassador. You must show dedication and commitment to our events. Student Leaders contribute to important decisions made by the college. They represent the student voice and peer mentor other students.

ACCELERATED LEARNING ACADEMY

If you are between 16 – 18 and have recently arrived in the UK from another country. You may be eligible to join our Accelerated Learning Academy. Newly arrived young people may not have a full set of GCSE qualifications so we carry out a series of diagnostic tests to put you on the correct course.

Be prepared to be in for a full day, or even two days, to confirm whether we can offer you a place and your level of study. Please note that whilst we provide English support, we do not offer ESOL classes so young people must already be fluent, or almost fluent, in spoken and written English.

Students in the Accelerated Learning Academy receive:

  • A set of diagnostic tests to decide course suitability
  • Possibility to enrol throughout the year and not wait until September to start
  • Accelerated study programme. Including English and Maths GCSE alongside A Levels or Vocational courses
  • Regular meetings and workshops to help understand the different demands of UK qualifications And improve spoken and written English skill

STUDENT SUPPORT

 

The support we provide our students is paramount to helping students achieve their full potential. We are proud of our hardworking Student support and wellbeing team who offer a wide range of support services to students.

Personal Mentors
All students are allocated a personal mentor to who is available for emotional support and advice.
Students can also arrange to see our College Counsellor for confidential advice.

Learning Support
For students who require extra support regarding their mobility, medical conditions and learning capabilities will benefit from personalised support from our team.
Our Additional Learning Support Assistants work closely with students Supporting them in the classrooms or on a one-to-one basis.
All our buildings have wheelchair access.

Financial Support
When you start college, you can apply for financial support through the bursary and free college meals based on your household income.

Academic Support
Our team of Progress Coaches is there to help you with your college assignments and study skills.
They are available to give advice on your future steps whether it's university, apprenticeships or employment.

SPORT

Sports and fitness activities are open to all students at Monoux College whether you want to play for fun, compete or keep fit. We provide high quality sporting, from recreational level through to high level competitive opportunities. Our sports coaches, activators and instructors are fully qualified to deliver activities.

Competitions and Facilities
The college competes in several Leagues, Cups, Tournaments and other competitions in a wide range of sport. There is also an extensive programme of intra-college competitions. Students at Monoux College are able to access excellent sporting and fitness facilities:

Focus Programmes

Monoux College offers talented 16-19 year olds the opportunity to try out for one of our focus sports programmes. Training and competing at a high level in your chosen sport alongside your studies.
These are in: cricket, basketball and football.
Students can apply to study ANY course in ANY subject at BTEC Level 2, BTEC Level 3 or A Level and gain full access to the Focus Sport Programmes.

Level 3 Vocational 4 GCSEs at 4 – 9 OR Merit in BTEC L2 Extended Certificate or Diploma, including GCSE English or Maths at 4 or above
Mixed Vocational and A-level Minimum GCSE APS of 4.7: GCSE English and Maths both at 4 or above
A-level Minimum GCSE APS of 5.0: GCSE Maths at 4 or above and GCSE English at 5 or above, with GCSE English Language at least at 4.
1 STEM A-level Minimum GCSE APS of 5.2: GCSE English and Maths both at 5 or above
2 STEM A-levels Minimum GCSE APS of 5.8: GCSE English and Maths both at 5 or above
3+ STEM A-levels/4+ A-levels of any sort Minimum GCSE APS of 6.5: GCSE English and Maths both at 6 or above

PARENTS

Monoux is proud of the relationships it has built with parents and carers. We have a fantastic team of staff who work together to keep you informed and up to date.

Parent Portal allows parents and careers to keep you up to date with their young person’s progress, offering access to information regarding course targets, grades and attendance. We also hold regular Parents’ Evenings, where you can meet with teachers to discuss your child.
