What is a learning Pathway at Monoux?

Two students, each holding a Clapperboard

In 2017, we made the innovative decision to block our courses into 6 unique learning pathways. By definition a learning pathway refers to specific academic programs, specific courses that are related to one another and learning experiences that students’ progress through to master a particular subject area, program or career route.

Our six pathway are:

  • Creative
  • Digital
  • Enterprise and management
  • Legal and Finance
  • Science and Health
  • Society and Culture

Students have the freedom to choose subjects from various pathways, and are ultimately placed on the pathway that is closely linked to their career aspirations. For a students may study English Literature (Society & Culture Pathway), IT (Digital Pathway) and Journalism (Creative) but if the students’ ultimate goal is to pursue a career in the creative industries, the Creative Pathway would be the perfect pathway for that student.

Our Pathways gives students the chance to enrich their pursuit of their chosen career aspiration. Each pathway offers students a unique blend of activities, trips and work experience opportunities that aid in understanding future aspirations.

Pathways are there to strengthen students’ determination and focus towards their goals beyond Monoux. We provide students a great blend of activities such as University lecture series’, which means depending on the pathway you’re placed on these lecture series will be focused on careers and subjects available in your chosen pathway.

This year we’ve decided to host various virtual events tailored towards our pathway subjects. Our next virtual event is dedicated to our Digital Pathway and our Computing course, which can be studied full-time or alongside various subjects depending on entry requirements.

Through our virtual events, students will get the chance to meet our teachers and find out more about studying computing in 2021. This is a great chance for students to find out what a Computing course at Level 2 or 3 entails from modules and career progression.
